Our aim is lasting language ability: understanding what we hear and read, then using English to think, learn, and communicate. We bring together comprehensible input, meaningful content, and responsive teaching, with respect for each learner’s starting point.
Understanding before performance.
Learners need English they can make sense of, not simply more English to get through. We value reading and listening that are accessible, engaging, and appropriately challenging, supported by a teacher who makes meaning clear.
Language belongs in a meaningful context.
Words and expressions carry meaning through stories, ideas, and real situations. We help learners connect language with what it communicates, so that English becomes a way to explore the world rather than a collection of isolated facts to memorise.
Growth follows the learner.
Learners bring different knowledge, interests, and levels of confidence. We believe good teaching notices those differences, responds to signs of understanding, and balances support with challenge. Progress matters more than moving everyone at the same pace.

Built through years of working with real learners.
Rice2Bread Academy has served more than 1,000 students since its founding, working with learners and families in mainland China, the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, and Southeast Asia.
Our experience includes recruiting and coordinating 30 teachers from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, developing courses, and building the systems that support teaching and communication with families.

Our founding team
Experience in media, content, and education.
Our founder’s professional background spans journalism and editorial work at established Chinese media and internet organisations. This work involved reporting, developing content, and connecting with a wide community of writers.
That experience informs our emphasis on close reading, thoughtful questions, and clear expression. Alongside it, our founder has developed courses, studied English as a second language, and built practical systems for working with students, families, and teachers.
International teaching experience
Different perspectives, a shared educational purpose.
Our teaching team brings perspectives from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. The team includes educators with master’s and doctoral qualifications, as well as university teaching backgrounds.
Academic experience matters, and so does the ability to teach. We value educators who can make a challenging text understandable, draw learners into a discussion, and help them develop an informed, independent response.

Xu Fang brings experience working in higher education in the United States and Canada, including supporting students facing barriers to educational opportunity.
